1. Handwriting letters and notes– Forensic handwriting analysis is the comparison of two similar types of writing to determine authorship. The goal of forensic handwriting analysis is to analyze, compare and evaluate the handwriting characteristics to determine if the handwriting was or was not prepared by the known writer.
2. Signatures on contracts, wills, or legal documents– To analyze, compare and evaluate the handwriting characteristics to determine if the signature was or was not prepared by the known writer.
3. Identity documents examination (e.g. Passport, Driving License, PAN card, etc.)- Any document that may be used to prove a person’s identity.
4. Security document examination– Documents that incorporate specific elements intended to make them more difficult to counterfeit, falsify, alter or otherwise tamper with.
5. Checks and bank documents– Examining counterfeit cheques, there are overt (visible) features such as watermarks, logos, serial numbers, A/c numbers, etc.
6. Suicide notes and ransom letters– Comparing two or more documents and determining within a reasonable degree of certainty that the same person or that different people wrote them.
7. Forged documents– Examining the overall layout of the document, its contents, the form is executed, writing material, letterhead, registration number, date, signature, stamp impression, any resolutions or notations made on the recto and verso of the act, setting photo stamps.
8. Typewritten documents– Size and spacing (vertical and horizontal), type style, and unique identifying characteristics such as character and alignment defects.
